Links and points of interest on the Special March 2016 Tour:
(5-11 March 2016)

This special tour, which will take place in the best season to see the land, will be guided and escorted by some of the best archaeologists who dug and discovered part of the sites that the tour will visit.


Saturday, 5 March, (Day 1):

Pickup from Ben Gurion Airport and transfer to the hotel in Jerusalem. Evening sightseeing tour of Jerusalem.

Sunday, 6 March, (Day 2):

Mount of Olives. Excavations of City of David, the Royal Palace, Warren`s shaft and the Siloam Spring. The 2000 year old street leading to the Temple Mount.  The Archeological Park, Robinson`s Arch, the Southern steps leading to Hulda Gates and the Davidson`s Center located in an 8th Century Palace. The Wailing Wall. The foundations of the Fortress of Antonia.  Crusader`s Basilica of St. Anne. The stations on theVia Dolorosa. The Byzantine ChurchDavid`s Tower. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem

Monday, 7 March (Day 3):

Mount Zion, the Upper Room and King David`s Tomb. Zion Gate. The reconstructed  Jewish Quarter, the “Cardo”, a Roman-Byzantine colonnaded street,. Hezekiah`s city wall (First Temple Era). The Herodian Mansion.  The Burnt House.  The Archaeological wing of the Israel Museum. The Shrine of the Book –  Dead Sea Scrolls. Model of Jerusalem in the Second Temple times. The Knesset (Parliament) building. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Tuesday, 8 March (Day 4)

Kibbutz Ramat Rachel archaeological site . Bethlehem,  the Basilica Church of Nativity Byzantine Basilica . King Herod`s “herodion” on to the Judean wilderness . Mosaics in the Good Samaritan Inn. The Dead Sea shores, Qumran,  Essenes`s houses and remains “mikve” remains. The desert water system. The caves of  the Dead Sea Scrolls, the  oasis of Ein Gedi. Diner and overnight in  hotel on the shores of the Dead Sea. Free time to experience the saltiest lake on Earth. Dinner and overnight in the Dead Sea.

Wednesday, 9 March (Day 5)

The World Heritage site of Massada: palaces, bath houses, church, rampart, synagogue and Zealots against Romans.  Jericho,  the “Tel” (ancient mound) and walls of the 10,000 years old city.  North along the Jordan Valley,  the Crusaders Fortress of Belvoir, the view of the mountain ridge of Gilead, Moab and Golan. Beit Shean`s Greeco-Roman amphitheater and the “Tel” of the Biblical City. Participants of tour 2:   Dinner and overnight at a Kibutz Hotel.

*End of Tour 1. Participants taking only tour 1 will be transferred to

Tel Aviv (or the Airport upon their request) after the visit to Bet Shean.

Thursday, 10 March (Day 6)

Tour of the Biblical archeological site of Capernaum. Sea of galilee. Hamat Gader.  The Golan mountains. The ancient city of Gamla, “Massada of the North”, the oldest synagogue ever found. The agriculture ancient industry of olive oil. The Talmudic era village Katzrin. Ancient life wars and trade in the Golan Heights. Biblical city of Dan – the capital of the Israeli Northen Kingdom. The second oldest arch in the world.  Banyas, the main source of the Jordan River. The Temple for Pan, the Greek God.  Acre (Akko) on the Mediteranean. Dinner and overnight in Acre

Friday, 11 March (Day 7)

Medieval Acre,  the Hospitallers headquarters, the Port and the Templar`s Tunnel. The Mediterranean coastline, Mount Carmel. Chateau Pelerin (Atlit) .  Caesarea – harbor city water systems and amphitheater. Ahort city tour of Tel Aviv and the historical ancient city of Jaffa .

End of the tour: Drop off at the center of Tel Aviv .
